The contemporary art fair artgenève opens its doors from January 26 to 29 at Palexpo Geneva. The Prix Solo artgenève - F.P.Journe was awarded Wednesday evening to the Mezzanin Gallery for the Solo Show of Isabella Ducrot. This award is given each year to the best monographic exhibition presented by the galleries. The winner was chosen among the 21 participants by a jury composed of Lionel Bovier (MAMCO Geneva), Hans Ulrich Obrist (Serpentine Galleries) and Cynthia Odier (Fluxum Foundation/Flux Laboratory). The works, acquired by F.P.Journe, will be offered to the MAMCO Geneva.
This year, the Prix Solo celebrates its tenth anniversary. On this occasion, visitors can discover a retrospective of the works awarded at the last Prix Solo artgenève - F.P.Journe.
Created by Thomas Hug and Laura Meillet, artgenève is one of the most important events of the contemporary and modern art scene in Switzerland. Over the years, the fair has built its reputation around the quality of its selection and attracts amateurs, professionals and leading international collectors. This new edition welcomes 90 galleries from all over the world and presents works by established artists while focusing on emerging artists. The fair also features two specialized platforms: artgenève/estates, which showcases the sculptures of English artist Barry Flanagan in a space transformed into a desert, and artgenève/music, an installation dedicated to sound that also hosts performances honoring the olfactory in art.
While a passion for horology is the driving force in F.P.Journe’s world, it also draws on the world of art. A work is the vision of a creator that perpetuates the inheritance received from past generations, that transcends the present, untouched by the passage of time. At F.P.Journe, this dimension is represented by the values symbolizing the Manufacture, authenticity, rarity and talent, the first letters of which form the word "A.R.T.". An acronym that embodies the importance of its relationship with art and of this partnership with artgenève.
As every year, F.P.Journe will be the horological partner of the next artmonte-carlo, which will take place on July 8 and 9, 2023 at the Grimaldi Forum Monaco.
